Welcome to South Staffs Sailing Club
South Staffs Sailing Club is a friendly club that has members of all ages. We cater for all abilities, from beginners to experienced sailors.
As an RYA Training Centre we provide courses that will enable sailors, whatever their ability, to flourish and really enjoy sailing at the club. If racing is something you aspire to do you will find competitive fleets and tuition available to improve your skills.
Racing
Club racing is run in various formats. We have class, PY and Pursuit races to take account of the time of year and the number of boats competing. We aim to provide the most competitive racing. All members qualify for a Personal Handicap which enables them to compete and gain good results if they sail well. An award is given each month to the helm/crew who reduce their handicap the most during that period.
Juniors
The club has a long and established record of encouraging and developing junior sailors through fun sailing programs for all ages and abilities. Run by experienced coaches, we run an RYA affiliated training programme. So whether you’re child has never set foot in a dinghy before, or whether they are already in to racing we are certain that South Staffs will provide a safe, exciting and inspiring environment to nurture their interest.
Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP)
Our SUP only membership is extremely competitive at only £5.00 per month (£12 for a family) as a small sheltered inland water, SSSC is a great place to learn or as a base to hone your skills. Membership includes access to the water whenever you want (subject to some safety conditions) and use of clubhouse facilities on organised sailing days. Please enquire online or pop down to the club any Sunday.
Great Socials
The Social aspect plays an important part in integrating new Members to the Club and introducing them to other members. It has always been a very active aspect of the Club with a variety of events over the year to suit all ages and tastes. From Quiz Nights, Car Treasure Hunts, Wine Tasting, Commodores Day, Christmas Dinner, Mince Pie Night with Carols and our own Orchestra, An Annual Dinner Dance and our own House Band all prove very popular.
