Why South Staffs?

Responsive YouTube Video with Text

Whether you're interested in Dinghy Sailing or Stand Up Paddleboarding, you'll find a warm welcome here at South Staffordshire Sailing Club.

The club is open for sailing on Sundays all year round and Tuesday evenings during the summer months. Generally, we have organised races on both Sundays and Tuesdays but there is also the opportunity to simply get out on the water for recreational sailing, if you prefer.

We run training sessions on Wednesday evenings during the summer for anyone who would like to improve their technique.

Youth and Junior training sessions are run on Sunday mornings.

If you want to find out more, you can:

Contact to our Membership Secretary, John Edge
Come along and see us on a Sunday and ask about how to get involved

Sailing

At South Staffordshire Sailing Club we are passionate about dinghy sailing as a life skill, social activity and competitive sport. The club has a wealth of experienced sailors, including RYA qualified instructors, who love to share their passion for the sport and help newer members with all aspects of sailing, including racing, boat ownership and recreational sailing.

The club limits sailing at the club to selected classes of boats which means we race together as a group rather than against ourselves. Overall we believe this:

Provides better quality racing
Gives members opportunities to improve their skills
Offers maximum communication for all members, across all classes of boat

If you're new to sailing and want to give it a try, we'd love to meet you. Why not come along and see us on a Sunday morning to find out more?

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

We have a small but growing group of enthusiastic paddle boarders who meet on a Sunday and, during the summer months on a Wednesday evening. We offer fun paddleboarding, suitable for beginner, intermediate and experienced paddleboarders where everyone can work on their technique, have some fun on the lake or participate in some friendly competition.

You'd be more than welcome to come along on a Sunday to find out what SUPing is all about and to have a go yourself.

We don't currently offer formal lessons or racing.

Come and give it a go

We're a friendly bunch and have a few club sailing boats and SUP boards which you can try out while you're here. Just bring some spare clothes (including shoes) if you want to have a go.

Social

The club operates a busy social calendar, including such events as Murder Mystery Evenings, Halloween Ball, Quiz Nights, Carol Singing, Fireworks, New Year Party, Christmas Dinner, Gin Tasting and we welcome all members to these events - whether you sail or not!

In early summer we have our Junior Fun Weekend aimed at getting our youths and juniors on (and in) the water for a fun filled weekend.

Becoming a Member of South Staffordshire Sailing Club

If you would like to know more about membership, come along and meet us on a Sunday in the first instance. If you'd like to get on the water to give it a go, just ask.

RYA Affiliated

As an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) approved training centre we are absolutely committed to offering formal dinghy sailing courses to members and new members.
