Welcome, Here at South Staffordshire Sailing Club we are passionate about dinghy sailing as a life skill, social activity and competitive sport. We are an extremely friendly and inclusive club which is run on an entirely voluntary basis by members for members, which helps us keep the costs of membership so low. The club has a wealth of experienced sailors, including RYA qualified instructors, who love to share their passion for the sport and help newer members with all aspects of sailing, including racing, boat ownership and all other aspects of club membership.
For a number of years the club has offered RYA Level one and two courses as the primary entry point to the club. However we have found that this doesn't always suit everyone and doesn't always lead to longer term membership. This year we have developed a "New member pathway" which we believe will help inform prospective members choices and enable the club to offer a more tailored and rewarding introduction. As an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) approved training centre we are still absolutely committed to offering formal dinghy sailing courses to members.
Please sign up to receive updates on our sailing tasters and introductory courses or our weekly Newsletter, "Good News Friday", to keep in touch with what's happening at the club. Please click "login" in the top right corner then create an account and signup to the mailings you would like to receive in "Mailing lists" on the portal menu. You can manage your mailing preferences in the portal or through the unsubscribe link at the bottom of a mailing.
If you are ready to apply for membership please visit the 2021 Subscriptions Information Page. If you would like to know more about membership and how the club works, please contact the Membership Secretary.
John Edge (Membership Secretary)
"I got into sailing somewhat late in life, having worked abroad for some of my professional career. I have always been active and participated in different sports, but have really enjoyed the challenge that sailing has given both my wife and I. I am a regular racer and take an active part in volunteering for any work parties that are arranged to maintain or improve the fabric of the club. The social side of the club has also introduced me to other members and new friends."
"If you would like to join or know anything about the benefits of membership and how the club works, please contact me." Click here: Membership Secretary.
