RYA Seamanship Skills

The 2010 course, which lasts two days, will be on two Saturdays in March, the 6th and the 20th.

Time: 9.30 am to 4.00 pm (approx)

Cost: £30 Members only -  £75 None members
Club members will take preference
(We have to charge as its a formal RYA course with certificate)


The seamanship course is intended for people who have the RYA level 1 and 2 dinghy certificates, have had further sailing experience since then, and want to develop their boat handling skills.

Topics covered on the course will include:-

· Boat speed control in all wind directions

· Heaving to and reefing afloat

· Man overboard, picking up a mooring

· Anchoring

· Windward and lee shore landing

· Capsize recovery

· Rudderless sailing

 A good knowledge of all of these will help you with your general sailing and give you confidence when sailing elsewhere and in a different boat.
