SSSC Welcomes Over 120 Visitors

On Saturday 14th April, South Staffs opened it’s doors to over 120 visitors the vast majority of whom tried sailing for the first time!

With fantastic weather and a tireless team of volunteers, over 20 boats of all shapes and sizes were in constant use and the Y&J (Youth and Junior) Team had experienced youth and junior sailors taking out visitors of their own age group.

There was a fantastic buzz around the club all day and many visitors stayed for hours, having picnics on the grass and trying multiple types of boat, before finishing off with a cake from the very large homemade cake stall.  There was considerable interest in both the adult RYA Learn to Sail Courses and the Y&J Training and further taster sessions have been booked in by many.

Dont panic if you missed out on this Open Day, we have a further “Push the Boat Out” event on Saturday 19th May
combined with our annual fundraising event for the RNLI.  For more information on this please see our Facebook page.  We also have taster sessions available for youths and juniors available every Sunday from 9-11 (but please contact us to book these) and we never turn adult visitors away either so please contact us at any time.
