Club has a successful RYA Training Inspection

On Wednesday 5th June, South Staffs Sailing Club was inspected by the RYA. For those who are not aware, the RYA inspects our sailing club every year due to our RYA Training Centre status. This status allows our club to provide the sailing (both adult and Youth & Juniors) and powerboat courses that we do. Part of being an RYA Training Centre means that the RYA needs to inspect our sailing club on an annual basis to ensure that our policies, procedures (including but not limited to: child protection policy, risk assessments and operating procedures), tuition, equipment and facilities are all up to standard.

We are delighted to confirm that the RYA was very complimentary of our club and the processes that we put in place to ensure that sailing is delivered in a safe and fun environment. There were a few minor comments to address, which is normal with every inspection, but overall they were very satisfied with how the club operates.

The way that the club operates is not an accident and there are a lot of people that put so many voluntary hours into this club that go unnoticed a lot of the time. From the build team who have constructed our fantastic changing rooms and training room, to Steve Baker (bosun), Chris Jones (Training Principal), Andy Hateley and Bev Hateley (Y&J lead instructors) and of course our fantastic instructors, everyone makes sure this club is what it is today.

Our latest inspection report demonstrates that our culture and ethos works effectively and this is testament to every member who volunteers their time to help the club operate.

My thanks to everyone who ensured that we had another positive RYA inspection.

Thanks,

Mark (SSSC Chief Sailing Instructor)
